Job Description

Complete Classroom Services are working with an inclusive SEN school in Croydon who are looking for a creative SEN Teacher to lead learners from September 2024. Due to the school’s supportive structure, ECTs are invited to apply too.

Role Overview:

As a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher, you will be responsible for supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism (ASD), and associated communication (SLCN) needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support and interventions to pupils with Autism (ASD), and associated communication (SLCN) needs.
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons and activities that cater to the diverse needs of learners within the alternative resource provision.
  • Collaborate closely with mainstream class teachers, Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCOs), and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student support and progress.
  • Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies to promote positive outcomes for pupils.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported to thrive.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress regularly, adapting teaching strategies as needed to meet individual learning needs.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance SEN provision within the school.

The successful Special Needs Teacher will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or applicants looking to do their Early Career Teaching (ECT) are welcomed to apply.
  • Experience working with SEN pupils especially, Autism (ASD) and communication (SLCN) needs.
  • Strong understanding of inclusive teaching practices and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet individual learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.
  • Enthusiasm, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of pupils with special educational needs.
  • Access to Good References and an Enhanced DBS

You will be expected to hold or be willing to obtain Enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services (previously the Criminal Records Bureau) and undergo due diligence checks on social media use.
