Job Description:

They are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Head of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) to lead their MFL department. The successful candidate will have a passion for languages and a proven track record of outstanding teaching and leadership. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious professional to shape the future of MFL education at their school.

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead and manage the MFL department, including overseeing curriculum development and delivery for French and Spanish.

· Inspire and support a team of MFL teachers to deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that meet the needs of all students.

· Monitor and evaluate the progress and performance of the MFL department, implementing strategies for continuous improvement.

· Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes the love of languages and cultural awareness.

· Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement school-wide policies and initiatives.

· Organise and lead extracurricular activities and events that enhance the MFL curriculum.

· Manage departmental budgets and resources effectively.

Requirements:

· Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in a relevant language subject.

· Substantial experience teaching MFL at the secondary school level.

· Proven leadership and management experience within an educational setting.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Strong organisational and time-management abilities.

· Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with educational best practices.

· A passion for languages and the ability to inspire students and staff alike.

Desirable:

· Experience with curriculum development and assessment.

· Proficiency in multiple languages taught at the school (French & Spanish).

· Experience in integrating technology into language teaching.
