SEN Teaching Assistant

Pay Rate: £80 – £100

Working Hours: (8:30am – 4:00pm) – Mon to Fri

About the role: We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join our collegiate community. As an integral part of the school’s team, you will provide vital support to students with diverse learning needs, fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment.

The institute itself houses a Primary & Secondary Pupil Referral Unit, Hospital Education, Home Tuition and an outreach Inclusion Support Team; providing education for pupils from 5-16 years covering the four Key Stages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Individualised Support: Work closely with college students with special educational needs, providing tailored support to enhance their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Collaborative Planning: Collaborate with teaching staff, learning support teams, and external professionals to develop and implement effective strategies to support the inclusion of students in mainstream college activities.
  • Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Assist in the assessment of students’ abilities and needs, contributing to the development and implementation of individualised education plans. Monitor and record student progress regularly.
  • Adaptation of Learning Materials: Modify and adapt learning materials to meet the diverse needs of students, ensuring accessibility and promoting independent learning.
  • Behavioral Support: Implement behavior management strategies, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Collaborate with colleagues to address behavioral challenges and develop appropriate interventions.
  • Assistive Technology Integration: Support the integration and use of assistive technology to enhance the learning experience for students with special educational needs.
  • Communication and Liaison: Maintain effective communication with parents, teachers, and other professionals involved in the student’s education, ensuring a collaborative and informed approach.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualification in Special Education, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs, preferably in a college setting.
  • Understanding of diverse learning needs, including autism, learning disabilities, and behavioral challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to changing needs.
