Job Description

SEN Primary Teacher to start in January 2024

Working Hours: Mon – Fri (8:30am – 4:00pm)

Pay Rate: Grade: M1 – UPS plus SEN point, dependent on experience. TLR also paid if interested in joining a curriculum development team in addition to teaching role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Planning: Deliver engaging lessons in accordance with the New Oaks Curriculum.
    Teach English, Maths, ICT, PHSCE, life skills/community outings, Food Technology, Humanities, and Science (for specific class groups).
    Adapt teaching to the needs of pupils and be flexible with timetabling requirements
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Lead teams and deploy teaching assistants to support pupil learning, therapy, and care needs.
    Work collaboratively within a curriculum team, contributing to the development and enhancement of the school curriculum.
  • Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Assess and record pupil progress using various scales and levels, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
    Write reports for Annual Review and other agencies as needed.
  • Communication and Relationships: Maintain clear and effective communication with parents, carers, school management, colleagues, Governors, and supporting agencies.
    Attend parent’s evenings and actively engage in positive relationships with families.
  • Professional Development: Participate in professional development activities and regular support meetings with a line manager.
    Contribute to whole school continuous improvement, including INSET programmes and the School Development Plan.
  • Health, Safety, and Safeguarding: Implement and promote the school’s policies on equality of opportunity, health and safety, confidentiality, and safeguarding.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS).
  • Experience in teaching pupils with complex needs or profound and multiple learning difficulties is advantageous.
  • Commitment to equality, health and safety, confidentiality, and safeguarding principles.
