Job Title: Care Support Worker with Manual Handling Training

Job Overview: 

As a Care Support Worker at our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) school, you will play a crucial role in providing personalised care and support to students with diverse needs. Your primary responsibility is to ensure the well-being, safety, and development of the students in your care, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Position: Care Support Worker Location: Kent Start Date: Immediate Pay rate: £80 – £110 per day – depending on experience

Please note – Driving is essential as there are no public transport links to this school

Key Responsibilities:

Personalised Care:
Provide individualised care and support to students with special educational needs and disabilities.
Assist with personal hygiene, feeding, and other daily living activities based on each student’s specific requirements.

Emotional Support:
Foster a nurturing and supportive relationship with students, promoting their emotional well-being.
Be attentive to students’ emotional cues and provide comfort and reassurance as needed.

Communication:
Maintain effective communication with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
Collaborate with teachers and other staff to ensure a cohesive and coordinated approach to student care and development.

Manual Handling:
Utilise manual handling techniques to safely assist students with mobility challenges.
Receive and apply training in manual handling to ensure the well-being of both students and you.

Health and Safety:
Adhere to health and safety policies and procedures, with a particular focus on manual handling practices.
Report any concerns or incidents promptly to the appropriate authorities.

Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of care and support provided to each student.
Document any changes in the students’ needs or behaviour and report to the relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills:

Experience:
Previous experience working with individuals with special educational needs and disabilities is preferred.

Manual Handling Training:
Possess certification or training in manual handling techniques.
Apply learned techniques to ensure safe and comfortable assistance to students.

Empathy and Patience:
Demonstrate a compassionate and patient approach when working with students.
Understand and respect the unique needs and abilities of each student.

Team Collaboration:
Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the overall success of the school community.

Communication Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.

Flexibility:
Adaptability to the changing needs and dynamics of a SEND school environment.
