About the role
A Primary School in Newham have a SEN unit that supports pupils with a primary diagnosis of autism (ASD).
Many pupils here will have other associated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) including associated behavioural and communication needs.
All staff are provided with weekly training sessions and there are on-going CPD opportunities available to take advantage of.
Their commitment and person-centred approach keep pupils and the heart of decision making. They champion inclusive learning environments to ensure all pupils have the space and resources to grow.
The Role
This school is looking for a passionate Learning Support Assistant to support children with autism (ASD) who have associated communication and behavioural needs. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support, fostering independence, and promoting social and emotional well-being.
The successful Learning Support Assistant will:
- Lead one-on-one and small group sessions focussed on individual learning and developmental needs
- Contribute to the development of IEPs
- Effectively collaborate with teachers, parents/carers and wider school team
- Monitor and report on pupil progress
- Be paid £80-100 p/day, depending on experience
- Will commit to working full time, Monday to Friday, from 8.30 to 4pm.
- Have access to good references and an Enhanced DBS.
